Mac OS-X 10.9.1 compatibility with PT-11??
I have a Mac OS-X Mountain Lion 10.9.1 and I just read PT-11 is not compatible with it. I just started using it and already have been having problems with recording/playback audio all chopped up sounding. What can I do?

Start here... "Help us Help You - READ THIS Before Posting!" link up above on this page.
it's almost certainly just a misconfigued system. Take your time and write a long detailed post covering the following... Clear description of your system. Exact Mac date/model code. What CPU spec is installed. How much memory. Especially every disk drive make/model/spec and which disk drive is being used as the reacquired dedicated audio/session drive. All the info is in the System Information utility. What interface are you using and what driver version is installed? Describe the session begin used, what sample rate? how many tracks? what pluigns or VIs, how many instances of each? Have you tried creating a new empty session (not a copy or from a template) and seeing if that has similar problems. Post a screenshot of the playback engine dialog panel. Make sure you have followed every last one of the recommended systems optimizations in your install documentation. Are there third party plugins or VIs installed? If so temporally remove all the plugin files from the AAX plugin folder (Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins) and restart Pro Tools. It will put back all the default plugins automagically. This is a very important debug step. |

Re: Mac OS-X 10.9.1 compatibility with PT-11??
I started an empty new session: problem remained.
The problem is when I record a track (latency settings and/or slapback not the problem) when I go to listen to what I just recorded, it plays back in a jumbled mess. I just read somewhere on the AVID website that Mac 10.9.1 is NOT compatible with Pro Tools 11. I recently did a free upgrade from PT-10 to PT-11. In PT-10 I experienced the same problem. Thought upgrading was the answer. My Mac, Pro Tools, and Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 are all brand new units bought last year in 2013 for the sole purpose of my recording studio only. Here's my info: Pro Tools 10.3.8 installer 80777 (January 10, 2014) Mac OS X Mountain Lion (March 2013) version 10.9.1 (13B42) (December 21, 2013) Kernel Version: Darwin 13.0.0 Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 (L2 Cache per core: 256 KB)(L3 Cache 8 MB) Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Boot ROM version: IM131.010A.B05 Startup Disk: Macintosh HD Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (March 2013) Scarlett Mix Control: (driver 1.7 -> 12-19-2013) Scarlett Plug In Suite (driver 1.4 -> 01-10-2014) |

10.9.1 is working perfectly here, just that Avid can only support whatever they have tested so if testing is still ongoing, there is no support until tests are completed.

And when Avid says something is supported it means whatever it is works across ALL Avid products, not just PT. It could work in PT but not Media Composer or vice versa.

Are you trying Pt's 11.1.1?
Separate fast (7200 rpm) drive or SSD for sessions?

Re: Mac OS-X 10.9.1 compatibility with PT-11??
Are you able to successfully record in other programs, such as Garageband, Reaper, or Audacity? Just to rule out a Focusrite driver issue.
FYI, I'm having success using PT 11.1 with 10.9.1 here. Specs below in my signature. & btw, 10.9.x is called Mavericks. 10.8 was Mountain Lion. Just to be clear which you're using; you said "10.9.1 Mountain Lion," which doesn't exist :)

Re: Mac OS-X 10.9.1 compatibility with PT-11??
Thank you everyone. My problem was solved. I think it was a driver issue. My PT-11.1.1 is now running great. I learned a few things too.
