Midnam and Middev questions - Please HELP!!!
I downloaded midnam file for Roland XV-88. Do I need the specific middev file for it to work? I dropped the midnam file in Library/Audio/Midi Patch Name/Roland. I have MOTU Express XT for midi interface and I have Digi002 running OS X. Do I also drop midnam file in to MOTU's folder. What about the middev file? Do I drop it at Library/Audio/Midi Devices? If that is it, it doesn't work. I followed the instruction of clicking on the midi track to change the patch name but it tells me that it's not compatible. What's next???

Re: Midnam and Middev questions - Please HELP!!!
Middev is a "master" file that is a kind of database AudioMIDI Setup uses. The problem could be the device is not in that file, or (more likely) the specifics of the midnam XML file are not setup exactly right for PT. We have had a lot of problems with that, and simply getting a file for the device doesn't always work. Try looking at Cherry Picker, which will tell you if the device is not in the Middev database and will let you save whatever it is in a specific PT Midnam format. What a pain in the @ss!
Good luck, Brian |
