Anyone using a PCI-E firewire card to connect their audio interface?
Ive come to the conclusion that my fire-wire ports are not working on my machine. I want to purchase a pci-e fire-wire card for my computer but I'm concerned with compatibility issues. Is anyone connected their audio interface with an pci-e fire-wire card? If so which do you have or what do you recommend?

Re: Anyone using a PCI-E firewire card to connect their audio interface?
I highly recommend Sonnet: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/co...rds/index.html
Really excellent Mac Support. I have one of their Express64 Cards for extra Firewire ports and is very stable with ProTools and my external drives. If you have any questions about Sonnet please feel free to give me a call.

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firew...i-pcmcia-cards I have a Focusrite Liquid Mix 16, Since the LM 16 needs a FW bus all of its own I connect it directly to the Mac. Then I bought a PCIe card with 2x FW 800 (that I attach drives to) and 1x FW 400 to which I attach the Digi 002R: FireWire Bus: Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Built-in Hub: Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec FANTOM DRIVE: Manufacturer: MICRONET Model: 0x0 GUID: 0x30E009E0092049 Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Sub-units: FANTOM DRIVE Unit: Unit Software Version: 0x10483 Unit Spec ID: 0x609E Firmware Revision: 0x110 Product Revision Level: Sub-units: FANTOM DRIVE SBP-LUN: Capacity: 1 TB (1,000,204,886,016 bytes) Removable Media: Yes BSD Name: disk4 Partition Map Type: APM (Apple Partition Map) S.M.A.R.T. status: Not Supported Volumes: Capacity: 32 KB (32,256 bytes) Writable: No BSD Name: disk4s1 Loops and Samples: Capacity: 1 TB (1,000,070,627,328 bytes) Available: 717.28 GB (717,276,000,256 bytes) Writable: Yes File System: Journaled HFS+ BSD Name: disk4s3 Mount Point: /Volumes/Loops and Samples Oxford ATA Device 00: Manufacturer: Other World Computing Model: 0x0 GUID: 0x1D202E0BE0906 Maximum Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec Sub-units: Oxford ATA Device 00 Unit: Unit Software Version: 0x10483 Unit Spec ID: 0x609E Firmware Revision: 0x103 Product Revision Level: CC1H Sub-units: Oxford ATA Device 00 SBP-LUN: Capacity: 1 TB (1,000,204,886,016 bytes) Removable Media: Yes BSD Name: disk2 Partition Map Type: APM (Apple Partition Map) S.M.A.R.T. status: Not Supported Volumes: Capacity: 32 KB (32,256 bytes) Writable: No BSD Name: disk2s1 Gargantua: Capacity: 1 TB (1,000,070,627,328 bytes) Available: 470.6 GB (470,602,661,888 bytes) Writable: Yes File System: Journaled HFS+ BSD Name: disk2s3 Mount Point: /Volumes/Gargantua Digi 002Rack: Manufacturer: Digidesign Model: 0x2 GUID: 0xA07E0000A40000 Maximum Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Connection Speed: Up to 400 Mb/sec Sub-units: Digi 002Rack Unit: Unit Software Version: 0x1 Unit Spec ID: 0xA4 Hope this helps...
