Default Klanghelm AAX

The Klanghelm VUMT is a one of kind VU meter. it is RTAS at the moment. One of the Best I have used.
Only $10.00 US.

This is an email response I got from Tony regarding his intentions for an AAX version.

Quote:
Hi Philip,
I actually already have compiled AAX versions of my plugins. Unfortunately they need to be code signed with a special tool to work in the regular versions of PT. This costs a fair amount of money a year, which I'm not willing to pay yet. I'll wait a few months to see how PT 11 is going along. If RTAS is really killed completely, I'll eventually jump on the AAX train.

best,

Tony
Please go over and encourage him that it will be worth his while.

Hmmm, I think the bigger story here is the revelation that it costs these developers "a fair amount of money" to port to AAX. Shame, really. That might partially explain why there isn't as big of a developer base as there is for say VST.

Sure it might cost you some more for aax-
however Tony has always been just a one guy kind of operation you really can't compare his plug-ins and his company with somebody like native instruments - it's a totally different kind of monetary income

Just to clarify, Avid does not charge for AAX development or support. The fee he is talking about is related to a required digital signature tool that was requested by our third party developers to help protect their customers and businesses. This fee is a license fee to a third party company for that tool and it is $500 per company per year. For most developers, this is significantly cheaper than all of their other toolsets and computers required to make, test, and distribute plug-ins. But for smaller companies, it may be a bigger hurdle, and we're working on that.

Thanks for the clarificaton, Dave.

On an unrelated note (sort of), who does an AAX developer contact to get their plugin on the Avid Plugin search page? Specifically, I think my current fave, Trackspacer v2 should be on there. I posted about it here:

I've bought both plugins, hopefully we can encourage AAX sooner rather than later.

Hi Dave,

Any progress on what you were working on with PACE in regards to this fee for the signing tool? I was about to cough up the $$ per platform, but was hoping you might have been able to negotiate something more attractive to us little guys.
