I don't want a post-fader insert. Just run your fader outputs into a bunch of busses if that's what floats your boat. I'd literally prefer AVID to spend their time doing literally anything else, e.g. wasting eons of time with all the stupid colours(/sarcasm)

What if you want to use both pre and post on the same track? 2x the tracks.

Well it's either that or a whole new set of inserts, presumably situated under the fader, which just seems like a waste of space to me. I don't ever remember thinking "ooh I wish this SSL had inserts after the fader", and I don't remember anyone ever saying it to me either. Also, you can’t really call it an “insert” if there’s nothing after it, it makes no sense. Pointless.

19 years of mixing in Pro Tools(and 20+ years on analog systems) and I have wanted post-fader inserts exactly..........zero times I'd much rather be able to have some pre-fade inserts on the master track. In traditional mixing(thru a console), the pan and fader are the last thing on the way to the mix bus(maybe through a group bus on the way). The truth is, the vast majority of users simply don't need it(but I am willing to be proven wrong)

So with those who have experienced post inserts on other daws. Place your favorite saturation as post insert then drive the fader into it.

Think of it as driving the circuit.

Let me know your feedback.

Not sure why everyone's answer is to dismiss the use-case; I agree that there are (for me rare) times when post fade inserts would be useful, but I don't imagine we'll ever see it in Pro Tools.

That said, just add a trim plug in a slot ahead of the hardware insert, add that insert slot to group attributes - then you can push level by turning the gain knob on any trim insert to control analog drive on all channels simultaneously - if you have a control surface, map the gain parameter to a knob or flip it down to faders and you're set.
