pt 8 le mixer plug ins crashing program at startup
hi all
just installed pt 8 le on a 17 macbook pro. 4 gigs ram, 250 gig hd, os 10.5.6. this is the first time pt has been installed on this computer. i had, however, recently installed the digi core audio driver on this laptop. about a week ago in order to let the mbox i have work with digital performer. it did. when loading pt 8 le now, the stereo and surround mixer plug ins crash the program at startup. when i remove those from the plug ins folder the program runs. its definately those two items. i don't know what is causing this. i haven't seen the program run on my machine properly as a result. i suspect that since it's the mixer plug ins that are crashing that it gives a strong clue as to what's up. any help on this appreciated. i would like to at least be able to run this program.

removing the dae and pro tools preferences made no difference.

i kept the console open when loading pro tools 8 le and the error reported said that pro tools 8 closed abnormally and that it was a bus error. maybe that helps.

i heard a rumor it was a specific mbox and 10.5.6 conflict, but i don't know anything for sure. i'm waiting anxiously to hear.

So you can run PT8 as long as you remove those plugins from the folder?

oddly, yes.
but you kind of need the stereo and surround mixer plug ins. i did just do the v22 firmware for the mbox update to assure that it had the latest firmware that i could find. same behavior.

i still wonder if this is an incompatibility with the current os. it is not listed as being supported in the tech page about the mbox and pt 8 le. crap.

I have the same problem. My setup is:
iMac 2.8 GHz 24" DIGI 003 Mac OSX 10.5.6 So I don't think it has anything to do with the hardware. What OS are you other guys running?
