Firewire Card for PT HD BU on a PC
i want to buy a firewire drive for my HD setup at work to use as a backup drive. i plan on getting a seagate 8mb cache in an oxford 911 case. although it is for backup only, i would still like to be able to use the drive with PT sessions in an emergency. is there any particular brand of card i should get? i am running a Dell with an HD1 system, no plans for upgrading so losing a card slot is not a big deal. thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Firewire Card for PT HD BU on a PC
I think most people are recommending the Adaptec cards. I've used those with good success, but I also used a generic Via based card until recently. It worked fine, but I had to make room for another HD Accel card. I'm not using a Dell.
I was using an Acom Data firewire drive for sessions and it worked great. I didn't like the noise so I now use a Maxtor SATA internal drive, and use the Acom Data for backing up. I'm using the built-in firewire port on an Asus P4C800-E motherboard now. Firewire drives generally seem fine for 44.1 or 48k sessions. |
