Default For HD users: How is Core Audio an advantage if you can't use it simul. with TDM?

I'm just trying to understand this scenario. If I own PT HD 8.x with a 96 IO (which I do) and I upgrade to PT HD 9, then I can now use Mac Core Audio with any 3rd party device, like a Presonus Firestudio for example. The caveat is, I can't track with inputs from my 96 IO and the Firestudio simultaneously - it's either/or. Is this correct? If this is correct, then please explain why someone would ever want to do this?

Also, might do something like this if I had a duplicate ilok with PT 9 on it, but I'm not going to chance my 1 and only ilok getting lost/stolen/broken by carrying it around with my laptop.

you got a good point there. Actually the bugs haven't been worked out with third party interfaces at all yet from what i'm seeing. If you run asio with motu interfaces you have to close out and relaunch to change buffers....

Third party interfaces work great. You can't mix drivers. It's HD or Native. Native would be an advantage if you are away from your HD system and need to get work done.
