Default MBox/Windows XP - PT5/G4 (OS9)

I'm running ProTools 5 on a G4 (OS 9). I have an MBox I'd like to use with a Dell laptop running Windows XP. I have an external hard drive with both firewire and USB capability. If I record using the MBox/Windows XP setup to the HD will I be able to open the files on my G4 and put them on my PT5 system or will there be formatting issues with the HD?

I think you should be ok as long as you enforce Mac PC compatability when you start the sessions. There might be some formatting issues with the external HD. I have an external HD myself, but I only use an XP Pro Tools set up with it, so I don't know, but if there is, then you could just back up the sessions on a DVD or CD (assuming they are small enough to fit on a CD) and then just import session data into a new session on the Mac.

Hope that helps

Format the external drive to FAT32 and you should be able to move back and forth from PC and Mac without a problem. There is a 2 or 4 gb limit (can't recall at the moment) on filesize from the Mac side with Fat 32 though. Usually that's not a problem as most of your wav files will be less that 1GB each. I just reformatted my external hard drive into two partitions (HFS+ and FAT32) so that I could also put some larger video files from my Mac on it.
