Upgrading to PT 6 HD questions/suggestions

Hello, I am currently running a Pro Tools HD2 5.3.1 system on Mac OS 9. I wish to upgrade to Pro Tools 6 HD and OSX.

I am wondering if my Mac G4 733mhz 640MB RAM will support PT 6 and OSX? The system came loaded with OS9 and OSX, but the video card (ProMax) does not support OSX so we have been using OS9. If the computer system is sufficient for PT6 and OSX, I would upgrade the dual monitor video card to something newer (perhaps a Matrox G450?).

We have 3 Digidesign 24/96 HD breakout boxes and 2 TDM cards. Would these be compatible with the PT 6 upgrade or is there hardware that we would also need? We have I-Lok with 2 plugins, Auto-Tune and Sound Replacer. Would we need a new I-Lok key?

A 733 G4 will work fine with OSX. If your computer only has the Jaguar OS, you need to upgrade to Panther 10.3.4. The latest versions of Pro Tools won't run on 10.2. You need to max out the RAM though for best performance. At least 1 Gig. You don't mention what Mac you have, but if it doesn't have AGP graphics, I'd dump it and get something newer for sure. All your hardware and iLok licenses will work perfectly with PT6. You just need to upgrade the plugins, which you can find on the Downloads area of this web site. Be sure to follow Digi's compatabiliy guidelines to avoid any problems. As far a video cards go, I'm using an ATI 9000 Pro, 128 Mb, dual digital displays (ADC & DVI connectors) that I got from Megamacs.com for about $130. Works perfectly. I highly recommend it for a dual boot system.
