Default Why does the output to amp selector change the main outputs?

Iv been messing around with the output to amp jacks and plugging it into my spider (with as clean as possible settings) to experiment with an external cab, miking, and just playing really loudly. And i noticed that changing the output to amp between rig input, amp input, amp output, rig output, and rig output no cab, changes what is outputted to the mains as well. This doesn't make sense to me. Not only that, but changing either one of the outputs setting will change what is outputted to the mains. My thinking is it should only dictate what the respective output to amp is set to

Is it just me or does that not make sense? Can anybody explain to me as to why it would be programmed this way?

I still love my 11R though

Nick

Changing where the "amp" output are fed from should not change Mains out. But you mention "no cab". Turning off the cab simulation will affect all downstream outputs. Amp 1 and 2 (if they are configured to be downstream of the amp simulation) and Mains Out.

It all works for me as I expect it to.

Have you ever experimented with the output to amp selectors? The last option (further clockwise) Is "Rig output no cab". I'm not speaking of turning off the cab emulation block, im speaking of the setting which bypasses it for the output to amp, in case you want to hear your own cab, rather than an emulated one. Which in my case, is what i wanted, but now every time i want to play through my spider, with the 11R effects and such, i have to go into the settings and switch it, rather than being able to just turn on my amp, and have the correct signal (Amp simulated, but no cab emulation) already going to it.

If this is how it is going to be, its not a big deal, other than a small hassle. just wanted to know the logic behind it.

Yes I've played with it, and way more importantly I even understand what is going on, something you seemed to have missed, and something I was tryign to help you with. Let me try again...

There is a single amp cab sim. You can't have the main outs and and an amp1 or amp2 out and have cab sim on one and not the other(s). You were not explaining where you were setting this from. But yes, if you use the front panel controls in user settings the rotary knobs let you set the amp outs to be "Rig Out No Cab" (fully clockwise). But what that is doing back in the signal chain is disabling the cab sim fully. If you turn the cab sim back on in the main signal flow the amp output you previously made "Rig Out No Cab" changes silently back to "Rig Output".

This is all obvious if you go back to the signal chain display display or look at the Eleven Rack window in Pro Tools while playing with the amp out settings knob. The User settings in the Eleven Rack window lack the "no cab" settings since you are a click away from changing them in the UI. I can understand why it was thought to be a good idea on the physical product but its a bit confusing as the OP just showed and personally I think the "no cab" option should be removed from the setting knob.
