Default 96k sessions on an older computer

Leaving aside the sampling rate debate, where does sample rate tend to bottleneck a system. i.e. if you were able to record at a sampling rate of fifty trillion, what part of the system would fall to its knees first?

If I have an HD Native rig and an early 2008 Mac Pro (8GB RAM) will the PCIe card rock 96k sessions or will they make the Mac itself unhappy?
