Pro Tools 7.4 not recognized/unable to upgrade

I am unable to install this new cs10 (and previous) update, i get the following message.....

Digidesign Pro Tools LE 7.4cs10 requires the presence of Digidesign Pro Tools LE 7.4.

I am on 7.4 cs7 and Tiger 10.4.11 ...
Actually i did try the cs8 upgrade and got the same problem but never followed it up. Last attempt was trying to install the Plug ins from the "Factory Pro Producer Refresh"... i got the same "requires the presence of Digidesign Pro Tools LE 7.4."
At this point i followed procedure and used the Preference Trasher utility. This was to no avail.
I did manage to install the Plug-ins by using "show package contents" and dragging them from there to the correct plug-ins folder..... although i would prefer that they were installed in the proper manner.
A salient point, is that this present Main drive is a drive that was cloned using Carbon Copy Cloner. I copied my previous main drive to a larger drive and swapped them out.
Obviously i can do a clean install of everything but i am trying to avoid that, especially as a new Machine and Leopard is on my list.
Any help is appreciated.
I did read a thread about this problem (before i had it) but it is vague in my memory and it does not show in a search.

Did you possibly move the Pro Tools LE application from it's original install location at MacHD>Applications>Digidesign>Pro Tools? If so, you need to put the application back into the Pro Tools folder for the update to work correctly.

If you want the application to reside somewhere else, make an alias of it and move the alias to the location you want to store it.

Another possibility is that you downloaded the incorrect updater - possibly downloading TDM instead of LE?

I doubled checked those two points and the app is in the correct place, actually its...hdd>applications>digidesign>digidesign>proto ols.
Yes its the correct cs upgrade for Mac Le

That's the problem - there should only be 1 Digidesign folder, not 2. If you have one inside the other, it would definitely cause this problem.

Again, it should be: MacHD>Applications>Digidesign>Pro Tools. The Pro Tools LE application should be inside the Pro Tools folder, along with all the other standard components.

Excellent.
Quite bizarre how that happened, i should have noticed, as there were two core-audio managers in there. Seems like the Pro tools folder got copied somewhere down the line.

I am upgrading from PT 6.2.2, Mac OSX 10.3 to PT 8 using a different computer and Mac OSX 10.5. Will the Boxed Upgrade version of PT 8 work when it is installed on a different machine? I have my PT LE serial number or code for 6.2.2. I don't think 6.2.2 will install on my computer because of later Mac OSX.
