Default floating windows w/ dual monitors

Any way to detach the edit or mix windows so that I can have one in a second monitor independent of the PTools desktop(main program space)? I figured out how to drag the whole program across both screens but this is a bit cumbersome, especially since the monitors are 2 different sizes.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Try making the main program window cover both screens by dragging the boundaries of the window, then you can resize and drag the mix window to one screen and the edit to another. The edit and mix windows will always reside inside the Main Pro Tools program window on the PC.

Hope that helps.

Dude...that is what he said he did already...

To answer the question--- NO the dual monitor suppor in PTLE is what you did. Stretch and position.

You cant detach like photoshop palletes or such.

I didn't understand, I'm too slow at the moment.
Ok, so what is your answer: is it possible to use two monitors, and how?!

Drag the application(bottom right hand corner) across two(or four) monitors. You cannot undock mix or edit from the main application window. Drag the mix or edit window into the expanded program space now available. Now you hae edit on the left , and mix on the right. THat Is how I runit at least.

I have a 15" flat screen on the left and a 19" CRT on the right. The different sizes make it a bit akward but after fiddling w/the rez (both now at 1024 X 768) I streched the workspace over both surfaces and put the mix window on the left and the edit window on right.
It would be nice to be able to undock windows and save desktop configurations ala Flash. I'm using 6.4. Does 6.7 do this any better? Maybe 7.0 ? will offer more practical multiple monitor support.

You have discovered why it is so much better when the monitors are the same. You might be better off just keeping PT on the big screen and drag plugins, transport, big counter, locate and such onto the small screen. That can be done without dragging PT across both. Then use the shortcut to switch between mix and edit windows until you get another 19".

I have 2 19" monitors and a 15" one - and It is quite disconcerting to be sure - THis is the mickey mouse approach but by elevating the 15" so that that the tops are aligned, I was able to stretch my edit window across and have it be useable all the way accross... WHen you get the chance get another monitor the same size as on or the other ...
