Default Computer in a Closet?

I'm interested in getting my computer out of my mixing environment by placing it in an adjacent walk-in closet. The distance from the computer to the mixing area will be about 25 feet. The connections I will need to extend include firewire, USB, PS/2, DVI and VGA. I've found a number of products (many of them very expensive) that extend these connections, but I'm unclear as to whether I really NEED them.

Can someone who has experience doing this give me a hand?

Who,
Hey man, I did this with my setup. It is about 12 feet away though, but works well. I went and bought the Video cable extender that has the MOUSE, KEY and Video plug on it. I have a storage room right next to my sound room that has 4 systems running to my room. 2 are accessed via remote desktop, and the other throught a separate keyboard (wireless) I had a KVM, but since I have built up the studio, the monitors have been revamped a bit. I basically drilled a 3 inch hole in the wall and ran the cables thru it. USB, etc... Then hooks up the monitors and ran a wireless USB mouse and keyboard. You would think that it would slim down the wires, but it did not. You can hide them though, so that is good.

wroks well though! and the room is dead quiet except for the AC. Working on that next!

Good luck!

I think that I just bought a BELKIN cable that had all the Mouse, Key, and Monitor connectors at COMPUsa....

I think that the cable was like 20 bucks... Good stuff though! May be a bit more. Cannot remember!
