Default Can sampling at 96k cause crash?

I notice my computer doesn't crash when I record at 24bit 48k (yet!) but when I do a 96k session I seem more likely to and always when I hit the record button. I read that oversampling can use up processor power given certain plugins dont include oversampling in their code.
Does this sound right? Could the problem I have be as simple as this?

Default Re: Can sampling at 96k cause crash?

Recording at 96k will consume more processing power than 48k, but your system looks more than capable. What happens when you make all of the plugins inactive while recording? Also, try lowering the buffer size during recording, and increasing it for mixing.
