Default M-Powered 7.1 refuses to recognise my Audiophile 192

I'm running XP Home SP2 on a dual Pentium 4 3GHz desktop computer, 1Gb RAM, 3 HDs (Audio drive is an internal SATA 250Gb)

The computer was running M-Powered 7.1 successfully with a FireWire 410, which normally travels with my laptop. In order to stop shifting the FireWire 410 from one computer to the other, I bought an Audiophile 192 to live permanently in the desktop.

I downloaded and installed the latest M-Audio Delta drivers for the Audiophile 192, then installed hardware.

The card worked perfectly with Cubase SX and with Samplitude Professional, but Protools was not seeing the Audiophile 192. It would load halfway into the splash screen and then the standard "No M-Audio Hardware Detected..." message came up.

Thinking that it was defaulting to the computer's internal audio drivers, I disabled these and tried again. Same results.

I then cleared the M-Audio Firewire drivers left behind from the FireWire 410 and tried again without any success.

At this point, I uninstalled the Delta drivers AND Protools M-Powered, and started installation from scratch, only to end up with the same result again.

I uninstalled the Audiophile 192, cleared the drivers, reinstalled the Firewire 410, and Protools was up and running in minutes - a testimony to the validity of the old saying "If it ain't broke..."

To the best of my knowledge, I am using the latest M-Powered 7.1, the latest M-Audio Delta drivers, and installation was done in the correct order.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions before I return the Audiophile 192 to the shop and splash out on a second Firewire interface?

Many thanks,
Gil.
