iZotope Insight loudness history graph not working? Fix inside.

I noticed the loudness history graph did not function in some iZotope Insight presets. Both AAX and VST versions were affected. Re-installing did not fix it. There's no setting inside the plug-in that would influence this behavior. Not any setting that you can reach from the GUI, anyway. I figured out a fix...

1. Navigate to where your computer stores iZotope Insight presets. If you don't know where this is, just open up the preset window in the plug-in and click "Change Folder". It will reveal the current preset directory. Close and deactivate the plug-in, then use the finder or windows explorer to open the preset directory.



2. Back up the folder just in case. I usually just create a zip file in the same directory.

3. Open the offending presets with a text or XML editor. I use Notepad++.

4. Remove any lines in the preset that include LoudnessHistory Magnitude Range. You should only have to do this once. This doesn't affect the behavior, it just "resets" the loudness history.

For example:

5. And finally, save the preset without changing the file extension.

Now the loudness history graph should function properly in your presets, and the other settings remain unchanged.
