Playback stopped working correctly after windows update
I am a new member of the community so please be gentle. I've had this system up and running for 2 years without any issues. I'm pretty sure a windows update is causing the issue. When I hit the spacebar to start playback it stutters, and eventually plays correctly. I rolled back the update but am still having the same issue. I tried re-installing PT but that didnt help. At a total loss at this point, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running PT 10.3.4 on a windows 10 pro system, with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 32 GB Ram. My interface is the Scarlett 2i2, Not sure what other info is needed to help figure this out. |

PT10 works on Win7, not Win10. Pro-Tools was not tested/supported on Win10 until Pro Tools version 12.5. If you've been running 10 on 10, then you've been lucky until now. Get 12.5 or newer. Also make sure you have the latest Focusrite drivers for your interface installed. Then like EGS said, go through all of the steps in the Help Us Help You thread.

Thank you so much for the fast reply! So strange that it would work for all this time without a glitch. I’m going to try all the things that you guys recommended I’ll let you know what happens, thank you very much again for your help

One thing those Windoze updates tends to do is reset your power preferences. Try going into device manager, and disabling power management on ALL of your usb ports.

That^^^ and double-check that Windows is NOT using the interface as its default playback device

Tried it all, nothing worked. Thinking about restore computer from factory settings and then reinstalling everything. Your thoughts? Anything else you can suggest before I start over?? Thank you.

Does this happen on a project created from scratch on the current system?
