Default How Do Motorized Faders Work?

do they just remember where you set them or do you have to program each change? just curious .......chas [img]images/icons/cool.gif[/img]

Well, motorized faders respond to automation. They basically stay right where you see them on your mix window.

You do have to program each change, however, and this is where automation comes into play. If you have it automated, then the fader does exactly what you prgrammed it to do when it reaches the specific timecode. For an example, you might want to check out the PTLE demo of "Be There" and notice how the faders on screen respond to automation. Now just imagine those faders actually moving on your control surface.

There is another form of automation, VCA, or Voltage Controlled Amplifier, where the faders dont move, but you still have the same effect.

They simply follow the faders on-screen. If they are touch-sensitive, they will stop moving immideatly if you put pt in the right mode, and just tyouch them, and all those moves will be recorded to protools.
