Default Question for those familiar with the RME AD--8 Pro:

Those 2 additinal ADAT Lightpipe in/outs labeled "Aux":

Does this allow me to pipe thru an additional piece of gear (my 001's optical i/o is now hooked up to the RME, but I'd like to hook up another piece of gear (Korg Oasis) to optical simultaneously) requiring ADAT optical interfacing?

Any response is greatly appreciated, Dean

No!
The Aux I/Os are required for the bit splitting function.
If you have a 24 bit signal coming from the rme you can record it onto two 16 bit devices. The 24 bit signal is split into two 16 bit signals. So there is no 24 bit if you use both (main AND aux) I/Os. Also you cannot switch between the two I/Os.

Hope that helped.

Markus

Thanks Markus. Turns out that the RME ADI-8 "DD" is my solution. Now I have to find someone to buy my ADI-8 Pro from me. Dean

Hey Bassmac!

The "DD" allows me to use a 2nd unit, simultaneously, that requires ADAT lightpipe. I want to incorporate a Korg Oasis card (which by the way YOU might be interested in....read the posts if you haven't already) and it requires a lightpipe hookup for 8 channels of powered plugins, Trinity keyboard sounds, oh boy oh boy!!!....wiping the drool up...give me a second........
....but, as we know, the RME ADI-8 Pro is consuming my optical i/o at the moment. The "DD" allows us to get around that!! Huge deal, on so many levels, and for basically the same price as the ADI-8! Let me know your thoughts. Dean
