Default Annual upgrade and support plan for Pro Tools

Hi,
As taken off of Avids support site:
Buy an annual upgrade and support plan for Pro Tools or Pro Tools | HD (if you already have version 11)—and get future upgrades through March 31, 2016 (coming soon)"

This offer has to be taken up by 12/31/14 this year or we miss out. Any word as to when we can and what the price will be??

Thayne

Keep in mind the thing that expires is just the extra few months. If you wait until this March to upgrade, you will basically accomplish the same thing.

... so a pretty good offer if you don't already have PT11 but otherwise, as nst7 highlights, pretty pointless for the majority of existing PT11 users until there's an upgrade you want.

With many users waiting at least a few months until inevitable .0 bugs are ironed out, the rest of us are probably waiting to see what Avid release in 2015 before committing to a support plan. I hope Yosemite compatibility comes soon and under PT11, not the next major upgrade.

And with many support plans expiring in March 2016, it may be unlikely to expect a Q1 2016 major upgrade too.

Think of it this way:
  1. If you get the support plan this month, you will be covered until March 2016.
  2. If you get the support plan in March 2015, you will be covered until March 2016.
  3. A bugfix update with Yosemite support will (probably) be free, even without a support plan.

So, if you want a few months to save up some extra cash or wait on a compato update, you'll still be in the clear.

I forgot to mention, if you are on HD9 or PT9, then it might make sense to do the upgrade now, because the lower price may expire. The upgrades will still be there, but this special price for those on HD9 or PT9 may go back up to what it was.

But if you're on PT10 or HD10, then the price will be the same. The only reason to jump on it now would be if you absolutely need the support aspect right now.

From the 11.3 readme:

"On Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) only, iTunes does not work with HDX or HD|Native hardware using the AvidCoreAudio manager.
(PTSW-194693)"

The Avid CoreAudio Manager is currently not compatible with Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and a driver update will be required.

So I guess I still can't move fwd since I use HD Native card and therefore CoreAudio with other programs.

According to the text, this only affects iTunes. Can anyone confirm otherwise?
