Pro's: 96 or 192 Through ADAT in on 192?

Is anybody experienced at using multiple tracks (tos/link) from the adat ins to record higher sample rates such as 96 or 192? Friend has the new mackie onyx and wants to connect to a 192 which has been expanded with the digi in card. Onyx has two adat outs which mirror at 44/48, and split at 96 so 1-4 comes out of one and 5-8 come out of the other. at 192 1-2 comes out of one and 3-4 out of the other.

Basically how does it work, and have your experiences been positive?

Using the ADAT inputs on the digital I/O card of the 192 will accept up to 48 kHz sample rates and convert them to a PT session running up to 192 kHz. So the only way to get 8 channels from the Onyx800R, I'm assuming this is the Onyx you are talking about, into PT on sample rates over the 48 kHz is to use the AES/EBU digital out on the Onyx and digital in on the 192. This is how I had to do it. Something to remember is you will need a custom made cable to go from the Onyx to the 192 as pin out is different on each unit. Hope this helps.
