Well it is important, as in the last time I looked there is no GROOVE editor in PT.

This seems like such a complicated purchase at this point.

I frankly am shocked at the lack of editors' in these drum plugs. Or should I say the lack of editors in the PT integration with these three plugs. Strike - SD - BFD

I think im leaning to the SD but not having a way to edit a pattern seems so boxed in.

I just must be missing something but this is a rather costly purchase just to find a pattern cant be edited.

Maybe I don't fully understand what you're looking for. Can you please explain to me how a Groove Editor works?

Pro Tools itself is a groove editor.

All you are doing in editing a "groove" is editing the MIDI pattern that triggers the samples you are using. In most drum plugins, you can simply drag the pattern into Pro Tools and edit it from there.

Perhaps you are thinking of an independent groove editor like in Logic, but you can most certainly edit any groove right from the timeline in Pro Tools, or in the MIDI editor window.

One fundamental difference worth noting is Strike's Complexity parameter is only assignable in the Style Editor (Groove Editor). Strike's Complexity parameter is where you can either remove or add hits when these hits are assigned to Complexity. When playing a Strike Performance any Complexity movements are written when the Strike Performance is exported.

Does SD and BFD steam off disk or RAM?

I am not positive, but when loading a kit without any effects it's let's say 500 megs of ram used. When loading some of the presets it can load 1200 megs of ram. I am not at the computer right now to check. I hope that helps a little.

From what I understand, BFD streams off disk, and SD uses ram.

You can choose with BFD2. There are options to optimize more for RAM or more for disk streaming.

Fwiw I love strike. It can be as simple or as I depth as you want. I tend to keep it more on the simple side. IMO the only drawback is it is pro tools only. All the other programs can work with multiple hosts. Strike can't. But if everyone is on pro tools all is well.

And what is the out of time thing you're referring to? It's always been rock solid for me. And I was in high school and college drum lines. So I think I'd notice if it was drifting in any way.
