Default Hooking up regular speakers to 003

So far I've been using monitors by Event.
They're OK but I have much better speakers in my living room.
I would like to hook those up to the 003, or do what ever it takes to be able to listen to my PT sessions using them. Ideally to monitor as well.

The speakers I'm talking about have a regular + - input and are not powered.

How can I use my living room speakers with the 003 Factory?

Thanks

GD

You could use the RCA outputs on your 003 and connect them to any RCA inputs that are on the receiver/amp that's powering your living room speakers. However, you really shouldn't use those living room speakers for monitors when recording and mixing. They're probably hyped in the top and low end, and that'll cause your mixes to have too much midrange.

I agree of coarse with erthquake, but it is cool to have a larger, deeper sound now and then just for visitors to listen to, and this could be the cheaper way to do it (if you have an unused sterio amp laying around,,,, like the one in your living room!!??)
But for mastering a project we need the cleanest sound we can afford, and even then it takes burning a lot of CD's and trying them on home stereo, boom box, and car stereo, and making adjustments untill you get to know your speakers well! (I've been out in my car at 2:00 AM listening to tracks). have fun,,,,,,,,,,,,, Mike

They are not "better" by a long shot. They were made for a different purpose and are not as accurate as the Events. As the other chaps said, don't use them for work, only to impress your friends.

No...
The RCA's on both the 003 and 003R are SPDIF digital connections, not analog audio.

Use your home speakers for referencing, but not for mixing.

How are your monitors currently set up? What is their position? Are they on any isolating material? Is your room treated at all?

Well the speakers are Martin Logan Spire and in my opinion sound much smoother.

My main problem with the Event's is that the top sounds rather harsh and overly bright.
Other than that I could use them just fine.
As a matter of fact when I have finished with my mixes and they sound good coming out of the Event's and the 003 they always sound much too dark in all other stereo systems. Including mine. Which is a fairly expensive and accurate system.
