Default Dual Monitors Setup

Hi,

I've just installed a second monitor on our system.
I want to find out if there's a setting in PTLE 6.4 that I need to tweak.

what im doing now is manually stretching the window so I can spread my desktop to second monitor.
Is that the only way how to do that. Is there a special setting for a dual display?

I was thinking something llike in Avid when you click maximize button, it automatically fill both monitors.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

You are doing it the correct way. There is no special setting for dual display. The next time you start PTLE it will remember the display setup.

Virtually all video cards these days will give you dual output (check your display properties - if you see two with one grayed out, you're in luck). Often the second one is (if memory serves me well) a DVI out, so you need an adapter. But then most cards come with one...

These days for PT my guess is virtually any card will do, but check the compatability stuff up in Allen Halleda's thread above.

For video post work you'll need to be more careful. But there's a lot to choose from. On my main machine I use a matrox P750 which gives triple output - in my config 2 Computer monitors + 1 video. But I have to use Quicktime 6.3 to get it to work properly. On this machine I have a Radeon 7000 running dual monitor. Plays multi-player Quake III Arena in hi-res too...
