Default tips for best MBox performance on ibook

I recall seeing much back in the OS9 days on optimizing protools performance on a mac.(certain extensions turned off etc) I can't find much regarding OSX and imoriving performance. I'm running PT with an Mbox on a ibook dual USB G3 800mhz. I usually have a quicktime as it's post i'm doing. I occasionally get the buffer overrun dialog but, have yet to find settings that consistently remedy this. I do understand it may be limitiations of the G3 processor, but if anyone has tips to improve performance they would be very much appreciated.

thanks.
