Default Why does it keep crashing?

Here's the setup:

Pentium II, 266 mhz, 256 ram, 30 gig 7200 rpm ide hard drive, soundblaster live value set at 48 hz.

Crashes all the time when working with audio. No problem with midi. Is there something I'm doing wrong or what.

Also, when I record drum parts from my drum machine I usually use channel 10, but on playback I get drum sounds from both my drum machine and roland xp-50. How can I set this up just to have the drums played back on the drum machine and not on the XP50 but still use the Roland XP50 for synth parts?

Hope someone can help with both problems.

Thanks.

Gregory

Make sure your xp-50's channel 10 is muted, and you are going midi thru to the drum machine from the xp-50 (or have a multiple in/out midi interface).

As for the crashing. I've seen crashing for no apparent reason from computers with a bios other than the recommended Award or Phoenix ones. Is your computer a gateway?

crashing might occur if your machine is trying to do other things in the background while PT is trying to push audio to the disk. rule out any software conflicts by closing EVERYTHING running (using ctrl+alt+del to end programs, you only need to keep systray and explorer to keep the windows kernel running) before kicking of PTFree, and see how that goes.

audio is one of the more intensive things you can ask your machine to do, so you have to give it a fighting chance by giving it NOTHING else to do.

Let us know how you get on.
