Default HD Deck Audio laybacks out of sync, what gives?

Ive got Panasonic and Sony HD decks in my post house, and none of them can do AUDIO ONLY INSERTS frame accurate. There is a mysterious 4 frame delay when doing audio inserts. I say 4 frames, but Im not even sure its exactly 4 frames, or if it is a constant offset. I think it may actually be drifting! Anyway, Ive been bouncing files over to the video rooms to do the laybacks from there when the project is in HD. What am I missing? I talked to a Sony rep would told me thats just the way it is, and that they havent been able to fix it yet. What?? Surely these companies wouldnt be rushing out products to the market that cant even do the nessesary functions that a Beta SP deck can do. I have been through the deck manuals, and menus, and can't find anything to help with the problem. WHAT AM I MISSING??

Any HELPFULL comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance!!

I have found a 4 frame - not consistent - delay on HDCam decks. On the Panasonic D5, I have inserted reliably with no delay. I would love to know if anyone has a good machine profile for the HDCam stuff or even the D5. Has anyone had any issues with the Sony SR decks?

I think it is time to resurrect this thread.
