First of all, thanks for reading all this! It's a lot, but I really need some help.
My Eleven Rack makes clicking/popping/buzzing noises whenever it playbacks something. I noticed this first when I tried to use a Pro Tools instrument and a Reason synth. The unwanted noises are not constant; happens only if something is being played. For a weird reason, it also distorts the Mini-Grand instrument on Pro Tools. I do not have studio monitors, so I use my headphones that I plug into the Eleven Rack phone output. My interfaces, MIDI controller, external hard drives are all plugged straight to the computer. My computer only has USB ports.

What I've done:
-I thought it might be that my computer couldn't handle the M-Audio Axiom Pro midi controller and Eleven Rack plugged into it at the same time, so I tried unplugging the Axiom. Then I opened up ProTools LE again, but the same thing happened when I played with the instruments with my mouse.
-I've lowered my processor from 2 to 1 (this to solve the problem with that annoying "CPU running out" issue)
-I've increased the buffer to the max.
-It's not the headphones either because I tried using them through my M-Audio Fast Track Pro and they work fine.
-I "directed" my sound output to be the Eleven Rack (making all output sounds come from my headphones plugged into Eleven Rack instead of my speakers). Then I played some songs on iTunes and it does the same thing. I hear popping/crackling sounds when the music is playing, but they immediately stop when I pause the song.
-I've noticed that my sound card goes wack from time to time...I had to update the firmware and re-install a couple of times to get it to work again. It crashes on its own at times when I open the volume control on the bottom right hand corner. I don't think it has anything to do with my main problem, but it's still annoying...

Thanks for helping!

Hey I believe I have solved this after much frustration/late assignments. I had stumbled upon it but wasn't sure exactly what thing I was doing to remedy it. So I will start by saying adhere to typical equipment and computer startup order, etc.

But what I just found is that it is 100% this: Go into a Pro Tools Session or if you can find it manually on the 11R let me know too. Get your Eleven Rack Window out (the graphical one with the pedals and stuff). Click USER OPTIONS (top left) and go down the the headphone volume knob and turn it up/down a little. See if your session starts playing.

Also, just before this I remembered to turn my Windows sounds off. But this is definitely a glitch of the headphone out. Possibly for some reason causing the interface to be stuck in a weird loop where it's volume is jumping until you move this knob. Where to find it if you aren't in Pro Tools I can't figure out. Sometimes I just want to listen to music or play guitar so it's still a pain.

Anyone else? Help?

Avid? Is this turning a pot inside the machine that is glitchy or what?

UPDATE...my "fix" is no longer working, back to popping noises/no sound. Going to send this in for repairs and get a mbox3 so I can get work done. That means I can send the Eleven back in every time it glitches or you guys fix this.

I don't know if this is your situation, but make sure the Eleven Rack is not plugged into a usb hub. It needs to be plugged directly to the computer.

I thought I had narrowed it down to the fix I mentioned and never turning it off with the PC still running, but started up again with the noises. Starting Cakewalk Music Creator or Pro Tools fixes it. Seems to be something with the mode it goes into for software recording because launching software seems to initialize the sound or reset it's engine or something.

Hey,

I am not a Pro tools user...sadly it looks pretty impressive. HOWEVER I've recently had a HD crash and was in a bind to quickly replace it, in which I replaced it with the "WD5000AADS-00S9B0" as you've mentioned is in your machine. I use FL-Studios (fruity loops) to create sound for game projects I work on and only after installing this have I noticed a chopping noise start occurring.

I know that increasing the buffer size within FL-Studios resolves this to an extent...however the noise actually occurs even when I'm simply listing to Pandora or doing something un-related to Fruity Loops so I'm now assuming the HD is a pile. Though looking further into the specs it does have 32mb Cache...and I'm no computer expert but that should suffice for a win7 desktop application. So...I'm very confused. And even more so upset because these clicks record in my tracks and no one wants that.

If anyone found a resolve to this I would greatly appreciate some info, maybe the HD isn't the cause but from what I can tell that is where the issue is coming from.

-----

I've also recently upgraded my Video card...but it's a gtx 580 I highly doubt it has any type of performance issues. Other than the size of the d@mn thing.
