Bounce to MOV (Audio-Only) AAC = m4a
Well, we got closer to usable functionality today.
I've been asking to be able to export AAC audio (.m4a) for YEARS. The reason being, my clients send me MP4 videos, and they want me to send them back (the same/same-size) MP4 video, with my audio on them, and m4a/AAC is the only codec that doesn't balloon the file size. So, I tried the new Bounce to MOV (Audio-Only) function in 2021.6, selected the AAC (CBR) compression, and got a .mov file in my Bounced Files folder. Using Get Info on it revealed that it is an AAC file, and by changing the file suffix from .mov to .m4a, I turned it into a file that I could not just merge onto my existing MP4 video (using Shutter Encoder). It's still kind of a weird workaround (as opposed to just creating a file that is labeled ".m4a"), but at least it's faster to have a shortcut that renames the file suffix than it is to drop a WAV or AIFF into another program to convert it to an m4a. Baby steps.
