Does anyone actually have an XMON working with a Dock and Avid Control?

Hi,

I have spent all of an 8 hour day trying to get an original Digidesign XMON to work with my new S1/Dock setup.

I have purchased a breakout cable that seems to be wired correctly. I have tried 2 different USB interfaces, countless cables, wiped and reinstalled software and no love.

If there is anyone who actually has this setup working please help!

So does the Xmon software recognize and work with it? The communication goes:
Hardware Xmon <> serial protocol to USB <> Xmon software <> Eucon <> Eucontrol/WSControl

Just trying to figure out where you have a break in the communication.
I had an Xmon working with an S6 for quite a while (which is the same up to the Eucontrol vs WSControl above.)
But one thing I remember is that Avid were really insistent on replacing our Xmon (which was originally a Digidesign branded one that was part of our Icon setup) and it was swapped to an Avid branded one with the S6. Never got a solid answer whether that was actually required (or everyone just wanted to update everything as a package.)

Hi and thanks for offering your help!

Before I started down this road I was assured by senior Avid people that this combination would work with the proper breakout cable.

I purchased a DB 15 to midi break out cable on eBay. I double checked the wiring with a wiring diagram that I got and wiring is correct.

My blue Digidesign XMON was working perfectly with my D-Command on Sunday.

My Dock/Control app sees and communicates with the XMON app.

The XMON app acknowledges the MIDI interface.

So the problem is somewhere between the midi interface and the XMON.

I have tried two different midi interfaces so it's unlikely that the interface is the issue.

any chance you have messages blocked/filtered in Audio MIDI Setup? We used a MIO midi device for this when we had it running.

(I'm speaking in past tense because after a year we switched that room to MTRX/DADman so I'm doing this from memory)

First thing is to check the cables:

Interface MIDI Out -> XMON MIDI In
and
Interface MIDI In -> XMon MIDI Out.

And it sounds like you've right-clicked on the Xmon icon and selected the correct device & port?

Have you removed that MIDI Interface from Pro Tools' "MIDI Input Devices"?

I do believe that I have the MIDI cables correctly connected.

I have the proper device and port selected. The XMON app sees the interface and if I move a fader on the XMON app I see MIDI data indicated on the MIDI interface.

Pro Tools isn't even open when I'm testing this but I can check to see if the MIDI interface is still "removed"

Not sure if you can see your Xmon from mix position but if so does the MIDI activity light show anything?

Is this a custom built cable you bought? Nevermind you say you tested the pins...
