Default fatal MIDI/Velocity problem... bug... ?

this problem happens to me since 7.1 first release, and it's still the same in 7.2.:

-Select all notes on a midi-track
-change the velocity on it
-save your session -> immediate crash. there is even a cryptic session file in the folder,
the one pt tried to write.

it doesn't happen everytime (of course), still can't find out when exactly the problem occours.

things that don't solve the problem:
-the usual prefs-blabla
-opening the session without any plugs but the mixer, means it's not related to any plugin
-import that particular midi-track into a empty session still causes imediate crash
-create a new midi-track, drag & drop the parts onto the new track

the workaround:
-create a new midi-track
-select all your midi data in the old track, copy to clipboard
-move your selection to the new track (';'-key)
-paste midi-data onto new track.

WHAT A PITA !!!!!!!!

does this happen to me only... ???

ah yes, and since we're on it:
changing midi-playlists also causes pt to crash immediately sometimes...
sometimes means 'only when you're recording a keyboard-player and everybody
around is watching and asking why you can't get that particular take back'.... nice one too....

beside this, my system is working absolutley flawessly.... but that almost kills my faith in pt-midi implementation

hd accel3, pt 7.2. g5/2ghz, 3.5gig ram, 10.4.7.

thanx for listening to my whining, any help apprechiated...

regards- ph!L

I recently learned that when having those kind of problems, the first thing to try is importing all tracks into a new session. I experienced midi-related crashes like yours, and it turned out to be a corrupt session.

that's what I tried... (see above).... but it didn't solve the crash on save...
only copy/paste onto a new track seems to do the trick.

regarding the corrupt session, I had this in at least 5 tracks I did in the last couple of months...
Is PT known to f**k up session files ? I didn't had a lot in the last 10 years.... but that was audio
only...

thanx anyway, best regards- ph!L
