Make sure you're creating a stereo instrument track, not mono.

Sweetwater.com has a video tutorial how to do it. In short you create a stereo instrument track. If you want to split up the drums they show that as well and you just assign the tracks. I love that program and I own it and a bunch of the expansion kits. Peter
