You need to use a macro app like Soundflow or Keyboard Maestro to automatically close it.
That's probably what they are using on the videos you've watched.

You can turn off the automation warning in the preferences

Those warnings can be useful because there is a feature (BUG), where the automation will write across the entire SESSION, if you make a selection after starting playback. Unfortunately, the warnings pop up both when things go wrong (writing across the entire session when not intended), and when things go right (selection is made before playback is started and automation is only written to the intended selection).

Suppressing those warnings in the preferences eliminates both warnings, leaving open the possibility of inadvertently writing automation across the entire session and destroying hours of work; automating dialog clips, for example.

Somebody had written an app called Guardian Angel, that only suppressed the non-useful warnings and left up the useful warning (determined by the size of the pop up window). But I had pretty erratic results with this and had to resort to leaving up all the warnings.

I used to use Guardian Angel too, but now Soundflow has a macro that also only suppresses the benign warnings.
It's still a terrifying thing that you can blow away hours of automation work by not making a selection.

I’m surprised no one has asked Avid to fix that

I thought I was the only sucker with finding out later in a session that my automation is f@cked.
