Default 16x8 mixer recommendations

Hi all,

I'm shopping for a 16 channel 8 bus mixer to go with my HD and 96i/o. Any suggestions? I'm looking for something better than a mackie. Some of the new modular (ie API, Tonelux, etc) stuff out there is really cool but a little more than I wanted to spend. Anything in between?

Thanks,
Charlie

Those are fine choices but again, priced way out of my range. Both of those are over $15k.
I guess even a flexable 16x4 with a couple of aux sends would work.

Thanks,
Charlie

Like I said 16*8 kind of odd for new.

16*4 better than Mackie:
Soundcraft - Ghost series
Midas - Venus series
short load the Daking? add slices as needed

Hi Craig,

Thanks for your suggestions. All good. I didn't mention before but I was hoping to get something small (rack mountable?).

There are some good alternatives out there in the form of summing mixers (neve, api, etc). I was hoping to get something along those lines with four busses/sends, not including the main stereo out. six bus?

why not the api? too expensive
why not the neve? not 4 busses

The search continues.

Thanks again,
Charlie

Allen & Heath GL series ?
Never used them myself, but had a live recording gig recently, receiving feed from it.
It was clean.

good luck,

It would help if you could mention how you are planning to use it. Do you need it for mic inputs for tracking drums, for example, or for line outs from your audio interface for mixing, combining keyboards, etc.

I think that most rack mounted mixers are only 2 or 4 buss.
