Default Panning/volume issue

LE 7.0/Powerbook G4

I'm having an issue when I change the volume on a track, the panning is changing to. It doesn't happen all of the time but I really want to SCREAM! I've checked and made sure that I'm in 'volume' and double checked the pan lines and they are flat.

Has anyone else had this?
