Default Media Station PT and Mojo

We just added a Mojo with Media Station PT. It seems very slow to load and very sluggish for any keystrokes or functions. I know that video takes more computer power but this still seems slow. We also get a message to disconnect all other firewire devices when we launch MediaStation. Is this normal? It takes about 7 minutes to load the software, is this normal?

Pro Tools HD2, 3-192, Sync I/O, Mojo
PT ver 6.9.1cs2
Media Station PT ver 1.6.1
MAC G5 dual 2.5 2GigRAM

Please Help!

Do you have other FW devices connected? If so, they should be connected to a PCI FW adapter card. Mojo should be the only device connected to the G5 FW bus.

hope this helps,

What is the reason for connecting the Mojo to the built in firewire port vs. a PCI firewire card?

You have got to be kidding????!!!!!!

Do you mean we need to burn a PCI slot just for firewire?

No Kidding - the answer is yes. The mojo wants to be on it's own firewire bus.

Silly but true...

Keep in mind it transfers Video fast with Audio (though we don't need much audio from it )

But no go with single FIrewire.
Had issues when using single FW with it...
Add another card.
Though new Macs should have 1 FW800 & 1 FW400 so you might be able to use the FW400 for Mojo & FW800 for External HDDs & stuff...

AFAIK, even the latest Macs keep all FW connections on a single PCI bridge chip. Mojo requires its own PCI bridge chip, not just its own port. For instance, my G5/DP2.5 has 400 and 800 ports, but with MOJO connected no other FW devices can be connected to the G5, it does not matter which port. I believe even the newer Macs are also this way. You MUST put a PCI->Firewire card in, or stay with SCSI or SATA drives for your work and switch firewire cables around if you need to archive or transfer with firewire devices.
