Default Ordered new Imac G54 24\"

Just thought I'd post this question.

I just ordered a new 24" Imac G5 with 2 gigs ram and 2.8 dual core extreme.

Any reason to believe I would be lacking performance with ProTools LE 7.1?

I've done pretty well with my early 20" Imac G5 on 1 gig and 1.8 cpu.

Problem with the old machine is it struggles when I get up around 12 + tracks with plug-ins and midi tracks. I always have to sub mix and that gets to be a pain if I have to make changes.

I would have like a Mac Pro but it's way over budget.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You mean Intel core 2 not G5? I don't have a track count for you, but I'm running one with 2 monitors wide desktop and cutting DVC Pro HD video content through the FW800 and it's amazing. Also running 7.3LE I added a 2 GB chip for 85.00 so I have 3GB and is screaming...

Enjoy

Here's one place:

But that only sounds cheap if you are used to getting your RAM from Apple. Newegg is also a good place to shop for RAM. The iMac uses laptop memory in SO-DIMM PC2-5300 (667MHz) modules.

Check out Newegg.com. I bought 4gigs of G.Skill for my 20" Imac and it's working great! I paid $167, and now it's down to $140 for 4 gigs!

RAM prices are plummeting - my buddy just maxed out his MBP to 4GB for under 120.00
