Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
So how are you using bx_console? All tracks?
It's very CPU light. I mixed a 60 tracks song - all the tracks with an console instance - and it used 60% of my 2011 MacBook Pro i5 dual core! |

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
yep that is what i am seeing about 1% demand each but that can fluctuate a tad with each instance setting. but i agree it is rather light on demand which is way cool by me cheers

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
I'm really liking BX Console. ADC minimum as is cpu usage. I use it on all channels, though I do turn the noise down a tad. I have requested a pref so it automatically assigns each instance it's own Console channel number.

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
Mostly use it on every channel, just like a real console. It is really good, especially with a control surface.

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
Definitely a great channel strip, but it's amoung a few I use. I tend not to box myself, or more importantly, the music in.
Budget withstanding, I'll use whatever I think the music will benefit from the most. Bx_console is definitely among my choices, but so is the Neve V or the IK offering. Then there is API, Focusrite, SSL, etc. Incidentally, that Waves SSL is on sale again for anyone interested. |

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
First time I head that Waves SSL is light on CPU :) though it might be on native, just that I have so long experience with it on TDM and it is not DSP-light that's for sure.

Yeah it gets the job done, exceedingly well and they have this focus about them that tends to make things sound tighter and punchier, for want of a better term.

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
I still love the waves SSL strips. They still get plenty of use here. I have the Bx Console and while it sounds smoother than the waves SSL, it take's longer for me to get what I want with it. I find the GUI to be more cluttered. I do like the subtle width it adds on stereo busses.

Re: Brainworx bx_console Neve VXS Plugin
Yeah, that will be the channel harmonic emulation. I combine the Waves SSL with it's NLS for the same reason. NLS in Dual Mono mode is the best for extra width, but slightly more DSP overhead.
