Help with VERY long shut down
Hi
Does anyone else have Protools 9HD taking forever to shut down? I close protools and then I can see the process running in Task Manager and also the red hard drive activity light is constant for some times 30-60 minutes. In the event log I am seeing these: Activation context generation failed for "c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Controllers\D-Control_Resource804.dll". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86 ",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",v ersion="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. Activation context generation failed for "c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Controllers\D-Control_Resource412.dll". Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. These errrors are logged all within a minute. The source is SideBySide. I have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1, i7 CPU, 8 GB memory, a system SATA drive, 2 audio SATA drives, an eSATA external Glyph drive and an external USB drive. Any help appreciated - if I have to restart Protools because its acting weird, waiting an hour for it to shutdown so I can restart it SUCKS :-( |

Re: Help with VERY long shut down
After a minute, I would likely say "screw that" and hit the power button(usually, holding it in for 4 seconds will force it to shut down). I wonder if there is some background service running(trying to do a backup?), or maybe a drive that is nearing failure? Just in case, I would immediately backup anything and everything. Maybe clone your system drive to a fresh drive and swap them out to see if that helps(its always a good thing to have a backup anyway). Disconnect anything that isn't needed for Pro Tools(networking, extra drives, printers, etc), to see if that makes any difference(troubleshooting can be time consuming)
