Dual monitors!
Dual monitors is the only way to go! Oh man, what a difference. I picked up two-23" 1920x1080 monitors and placed them within about three feet of my face, and I'm in heaven.
Too bad the manual doesn't tell you how to get the job done. Fortunately, a bit of a search here and I found out how. Just to share the wealth, the trick is to NOT maximize the parent window of PT, but rather expand it to cover both monitors. Then arrange the various windows however you want. Alt+F4 to close the application, and then PT will remember the arrangement. Before I got the the two new monitors, I moved my current PT monitor (24" 1920x1200) to my personal rig and went 'Wow! You're not moving anywhere'. I love the Win7 easy snap side-by-side windows. That made me jump to the dual monitors before I was actually financially ready. Oh well, just a bit ahead of schedule.

A 3rd is even nicer, if your computer supports it. Especially if you have a lot of windows open at once. It's amazing how much time you save when you don't have to drag windows around.

Re: Dual monitors!
Once you've gone three, you'll never go back. Mine is mix left/edit center/plugs right.
Actually kicking around going QUAD to put a video window on the fourth one. OR using a separate vid out and sending the video window to the TV if I can figure out how. http://www.southwestrecording.com/do...t/STUDIO-2.JPG |

I got my waveforms on one. mix window on anoth, and midi editor on the last one. or if im not using a whole lot of midi, ill expand my mix window and get to look at like 40 channels at once Although my monitors and adapters cost me nearly a grand on its own. Quick pic of my setup (i know, hardly anything on the walls). http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/6457/img0734v.jpg Nick PS i also do alot of gaming, i didn't buy 3 just for protools

Re: Dual monitors!
Five 22" monitors here. Three over the console and two at the MIDI station. Pushed by three HD5450 ATI cards.
