Compressor question
Is slope the same as threshold on an audio compressor? reason I am asking I have a joe meek compressor it has no threshold control and plug in compressoers seem tohave a threshold control.

Not the same thing...
Threshold determines the point at which peaks are reduced (compressed). Slope is how aggressive the compression is applied one it crosses the threshold. Another parameter often seen (that relates to how much compression is applied) is ratio - 4:1 being fairly common - 20:1 indicating limiting. Some Compressors have no threshold and are pre determined according to the input - 1176, LA-2A, etc... This is where meters can be helpful to see the amount of gain reduction being applied.

Ok now there is also a compression control/ the slope has 2:1 etc on the double post albee answered as well and said same thing, Mine is a fixed threashold and I have an input vol to make it hit the compressor
