Default Issues with OMF's recently
As of about two weeks ago, OMF's not been importing correctly from Premiere.
All music and sfx edits come in as 1k tone and all dialog is the same clip looped at every edit. I usually ask for AAF's these days anyways but OMF is still the default for some editors.

I still get them some times and have not seen this.

Embedded or referenced?

This just happened to me with the latest version of Premiere. Ask for an embedded AAF.

Adobe broke things again.

Yeah, embedded AAF is the fix for sure. I tried opening on several different rigs so I was pretty sure it wasn't us. I guess there was an Update for 2025 in premiere and that's the broken source.

If issues persist even with embedded OMFs, the cause is often un-rendered effects in their timeline.

I had one from an editor that worked and then the next day, new project... it was wonky. Only thing different was the second one had ripped audio clips from an MP4.

That continues Adobe's streak of breaking exports. Ever since they added the function.

The last whitepaper for the OMF format that I found is from 1997. Maybe editors should slowly transition their NLEs to the "cutting edge" AAF format (introduced about 20 years ago). Post production loves to stick to deprecated formats and software for as long as possible so lets keep trying and make the steam engine work inside the space shuttle
