Default is it an upgrade or full version???

Sorry to post this dumb question. Is the Pro Tools 8le (upgrade) that is available to download for $149.99 from the avid store the full version??? or can it only upgrade a previous version of pro tools??? Again sorry for a dumb question, i'm so confused..

It's a full installer, however, you will need to have registered a previous version of PT for it to work. It will ask for an authorization number that will be on your mydigi account, (or whatever they call it now). When you register the new software, it will check for the old authorization number and issue you a new one. That's how it used to work I think... been a couple of years since I had to do it.

arrrggg. I haven't registered a previous version. I have an mbox2 that was given to me with out any software. I was just hoping to purchase the software online.. Pretty strange that you can't install it without registering a previous version..

No man, danny's a bit off kilter. You don't need a previous auth to buy PT8LE. The $149.99 is for a full install, no previous registered product necessary.
