Compression question
On many of the location recordings (schools) I do there are parts that are too quiet for comfortable listening. Typically a flute player in a concert band with a solo. These are stereo recordings. The soloist is not buried by the band just much too quiet.
Is there a convenient way using a compressor or limiter, etc. to automatically boost the quiet parts without compressing the entire recording. LE 6.4 TIA |

Re: Compression question
yes and its called audio suite
although if I were you I'd try audio suite gain on those parts before you compress when you do this listen to the noise floor as if you have a poor signal to noise ratio then you may have to retrack if all is well I would then consider compressing you couls also user auto mation to do what you want but this way is simpler and more efficient in my eyes |

Re: Compression question
Hey mersisblue,
How do you feel about breaking the recording into seperate regions and normalizing the more quiet part? This is what I practice since, prior to reading your post, this is the only method I came up with.. Thanks! - GAPE |

Re: Compression question
Draw in some subtle and slow volume automation if you don't want to compress.

Re: Compression question
Put a spot mic on the flute player and mix to taste.
