Default DAE error (-6004)

I was cleaning my computer and by accident I knocked the cord conneccting the I/O box to my computer off of its seating. I promptly reconnected it and everything was OK until I put the computer to sleep. when I tried to start up protools after sleep I got error -6004. I restarted the computer and protools worked but every time after waking the computer from sleep I get this error. I trashed the DAE pref. and then the Protools pref. but still the same error after sleep. If anyone can help I would be greatly appreciative,
I ha ve a mac G4 400 AGP w/ OS 9.1 and protools 5.1.1 in case that helps.

Update!!!!
I just noticed that I get the same error, (-6004), from Jam after waking from sleep. I tossed the pref. to Jam but that did not help. Does any one know of a conflict between these two Apps.?
P.S. I have Jam v/ 2.6.2

-When Sound Manager is set to “Digidesign,” Pro Tools sometimes has problems communicating with the hardware and posts the -6004 error:
-Open the Sound Control Panel to “Built-In” and relaunch Pro Tools.

Brent, my sound control panel is always set to internal. I trashed jam to see if there was a conflict between DAE and Jam but that did not help. I still get the same -6004 error after waking from sleep. I have trashed all protools pref. in the System Pref. Folder but this does not help. If anyone can help me solve this problem I would be extremely grateful.

-Although I am not sure why, DAE has problems communicating with the Digi001 hardware after the computer goes to sleep. Open the Energy Saver Control Panel and set it to “Never*.”

*Pro Tools does not have problems when only the monitor sleeps. If you only want your monitor to sleep after a period of inactivity:
-Open the Energy Saver Control Panel
-Click “Show Details” enable “Separate timing for Display Sleep” and set it to your liking. Leave the other sliders set to “Never.”

So this means if I put my computer as a whole( monitor and harddrive ) to sleep, I will persist to have this error after waking from sleep? Is this the nature of the software or hardware and am I just going to have to deal with it?

P.S. I have the energy saver control panel set to never and I put the computer to sleep manually instead of shutting down.

-Yes, this is the case.

-As I said before, I am not sure what causes this problem. Although things might change in the future, it looks like this is something we will all have to just "deal with."

-The error will persist no matter what method you use to Sleep your computer.
