Pro Tools Perpetual vs Subscription?

Hi guys,

I'm currently running a PT 12.4 perpetual licence and was thinking of upgrading to the 2018 version. I heard somewhere that if I subscribe for one year, I can make the full upgrade to the latest version with all of their updates for up to 1 year. Then, if I decide not to subscribe the following year, I can still use my latest version perpetually.

Is this true, or would I need a perpetual licence for what I'm looking to do? The perpetual licence vs 1 year subscription is almost double the cost, so I'm trying to make the right choice here.

Don’t think it works like that. More than likely if you subscribe it will be an altogether different Ilok asset.

Meaning the latest via subscription would disappear when you stopped paying

But your perpetual would still be at 12.4

If you get a reinstatement you get 1 year annual plan $299 and if you stop after that year you will have the last version of PT that was out when you ended the plan.

Subscription is monthly/yearly and does not include a perpetual license.
