Default control tempo?

Does anyone know if its possible to control tempo with an external device. Keyboard controller or the like? If so, how do you map tempo control to the device?

Thanks

There is this product from ploytec which generates a variable midi beat clock from your foot tapping the beat. http://www.ploytec.com/34one/

Very cool, however I should have been clearer, can you control Pro Tools tempo with a control device, a fader on a keyboard controller or the like?

Thanks
