Default Use ZOOM H2 as a microphone

Hey guys,

I want to use my Zoom H2 field recorder as a microphone, which worked in SONAR without any problems or drivers.
Now I got Pro Tools 12 and wanted to use it ... it doesn't work.
I did a bit of research online and I discovered that
– the H2 can be set up as an interface, not just a mic. To do so, you need ASIO4ALL
– there are ASIO drivers for the H2 itself

So I installed both the ASIO4ALL driver and the ASIO driver for the H2.
In the ASIO4ALL settings window, the H2 is detected and enabled.
In the Pro Tools playback engine window, it shows three playback devices now: 1. Saffire (my audio interface), 2. ASIO4ALL and 3. Zoom H2.
If I select my audio interface, I can’t select the H2 as an input on a track nor is it shown in the I/O window.
If I select ASIO4ALL, same thing.
If I select the H2, it says "Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program". I googled that error message and found official advice: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...-program-error. Neither of those tips worked.

Is there any way to make it work?

Those are my settings in the ASIO4ALL window. Obviously, something is not working porperly ASIO4ALL.jpg
"Eing" means "Input"; "Ausg" means "Output"

The configuration looks good, but you are getting the "Beyond Logic" error indicator on the H2. Try checking the resample 44.1k <-> 48k box to clear the error. Don't know why, but it worked here.

i tried in tbe past my zoom h4 as Interface.....
i can only say : stay away from zoom h2 or h4 ( i cannot say anything
about the newer devices like h4n ) as Input device , the clock is so
terrible that , if doing multitrack f.e. it drifts apart from other tracks , never seen this before.

regards

I tried that and the lock symbol actually disappeared. Still, when I select Asio4all as Playbackengine, the H2 is not shown. When I select the H2 as Playback engine, I still get the error message.
I should select Asio4all anyway, right?

Not sure what you're looking for here, but the H2 itself will not be shown when you select the ASIO4ALL device. In the configuration you've set, it will be Input 1-2 of the ASIO device. So if you look at your I/O, the ASIO4ALL device will have Input 1-2 and Output 1-2. Create a stereo audio track and select Input 1-2, arm it to record and you should see signal coming from the H2.

Thank you very much, ChuckS! It works! I had to select the Saffire 1/2 as input on my track and i had to check the "always resample 48 <-> 44.1 kHz" box for the H2 in the Asio settings window.

When you say you had to select the Safire 1/2 as input, my guess is that the I/O is using your old labels. If you hit the default button on the input I/O page, it will probably change that to "H Series Audio Wave 1-2". But hey, if it works and you know the I/O naming scheme, leave it be. When I said it wouldn't show up in the ASIO4ALL as itself, I was incorrect. The I/O will be labeled correctly if you hit default on the I/O tabs.
